More Posts to Come

I am fairly happy with the amount of posts that we are getting out at the moment, but obviously a few more a month would be great. As you have probably seen, we have just finished our starting time and now we are going into how it will be normally, the views have reduced from 20 to around 7 views a day on average. Do not fear though, something good is coming for all us UK kids.
Very, very soon a lot of the writers here will break up from school for the summer holidays. This means more posts, so we can start getting are views back up! I am intending to write a proper post soon, not one about teknocast.

My iPhone/Touch Apps
June 6, 2009 at 1:51 PM | In Software | 2 CommentsTags: application, apps, iphone, ipod, itouch
Today I am going to write about the apps that I have on my iTouch (or iPod Touch, whatever). I don’t have many as I have so many songs and podcasts, but the ones I do have I use a lot! Even the draft of this was made on an app. Special, huh?
My first and most valuable app is RssRunner. From the name you can guess what it does, if you can’t I’ll fill you in; RSS is what this blog uses, news feeds, podcast feeds, that kind of thing. You can add new feeds to it and when you refresh any new items to the feed will appear as new, in bold writing. Golden-apps.com made this wonderful application. For all you geeks, like myself, it’s a great way to keep up to date with the latest tecnology news.
I have a very simple game app. It’s called Hangman! I use it to tax my brain whenever I’m on the go with my iTouch. The one I use is made by jamsoftonline.com, but the are many others. It doesn’t need much explaining besides; it’s Hangman.
Twitter! Everybody loves Twitter, well almost. I am one of those who like it. For Tweeting on the iPod I use Twitteriffic, made by iconfactory. It is a compressed version of Twitter, very easy to use. Go Twitter!
I only have 1 game that cost me money, that game is StickWars. Little stick men run at your castle trying to destroy it, so you must fling them in the air for them to come back down and go ’splat’. By killing them you get money, which you can buy upgrades with. As you progress through levels there are more men and they get some vechiles, scary, right? It will less than £3 ($6) for lovers of castle defence; this is a good buy. Same goes for new people to the genre.
The final app and my newest is a wordpress one. It is made by iconfactory and the wordpress community apparently. It lets you save local drafts to your iPod when there is no wi-fi, when there is wi-fi you can publish it, save it as a draft, lots of different options. It’s great for bloggers using wordpress.
Apple have really made a great descision with apps. I think without them the iPhone/Touch wouldn’t sell as much as it does at the moment. So until Nokia and the rest pull it off properly, Apple will lead the way!

Motion Sensing
June 4, 2009 at 10:40 PM | In Hardware, Video Games | Leave a CommentTags: E3, Glowstick, Microsoft, Motion, Natal, Nintendo, Sensing, Sony, WiiMote
At E3 we saw Sony and Microsoft demonstrate there very own sort of motion sensing device for their consoles. As we all know Nintendo has had the Wii out for a couple of years, but even with years of experience, they were out done with a demo!
Natal, Microsoft’s attempt at motion sensing, uses body movements; hands and arms mainly. It has a camera which picks up movement, then that will take effect on your avatar or whatever game that utilises it. Natal can not be compared to WiiMote too much as it is a camera not a remote. I am not fully convinced by Natal from what I have seen at E3, I am talking about the bit where the avatar being controlled screwed up.
Then we have Sony. They have mixed Natal with WiiMote and I believe they have made something excellent. Sony Glowstick, as I call it, is like the WiiMote in that it picks up on where it is a that will tell the console what to move. But also it use a camera to make other changes. In the demo of Glowstick, we saw a man holding Glowstick, but on the screen he was holding a tennis racket. It looked awesome! However I can not think where else they could use the camera and Glowstick together.
The funniest thing of all of this is that what Wii have been doing for the past 2 to 3 years has been out done by a demo. Sony have actually beaten Nintendo with their motion controller in my opinion. I am very interested to see how this plays out.
ModNation Racers

Yesterday in Sony’s E3 conference, it was announced that a new game, like LittleBigPlanet, was going to be released for the PS3. This game is called ModNation Racers. I didn’t catch when it will be on the shelves or how much it will retail for. What I did catch though was a excellent live demo!
This game lets you become very creative! You can make you own little racer, with different costumes, hair styles, you can even make it look like a monkey. To go with your little guy, the game lets you make your own car. Now I doubt that it goes like Forza Motorsport and lets you use new engines and such, but I know you can change styles of car, colours, maybe even stickers. This is where it gets even better! You can make race tracks too, sand, tarmac, everything from houses to sheep. Like the Far Cry map editor, you can raise land, to create snow topped mountains. Then once your masterpiece is finished you can race on it, with AI, straight away!
Like LittleBigPlanet, you can rate characters, cars and tracks. I don’t think it will compete with LBP, but it will obviously be a great little game! If I had a PS3 in my room, I’d definitely get this game!

PS3: Ninja LBPlanet guy, Rachet and Clank. End of video. Clapping. Rockstar has Agent, exclusive to Play Station. Rockstar recognises PS as a great place for games. Assassins Creed 2, giving players more choices in each aspect of the game. Starts as AC 1 ended. DaVinci will help main character with gadgets, like flying machine, Glider. It’s set it Italy, start of the modern world. So they don’t expect a flying man. The game looks very good! He just face palmed two guys and killed them. 30 different weapons. He is now surrounded after killing the main guy. He smoke bombs everyone a jumps into the nearest bit of sea. He says it will be on the shelf this holiday along with Assassins Creed: Bloodlines for the PSP. Video for Final Fantasy 13, a lot of action. Final Fantasy 14 is exclusive to PS3 when it launches in 2010. The video, has dragons, and ships. Everyone has been catered for according to Jack Tretton. There is talk about the motion control. Oh dear. It looks like a WiiMote, but it’s just a prototype. It’s like a Glowstick. Now a live demo of it in action, it has a glowing blue orb on the top of it. They put the camera on, them it made it look like he’s holding a tennis racket a sword, STOP sign, Fans, etc. It looks amazing. It’s not fully worked out yet, but it looks awesome! You can use 2 at a time. There is a building thing, a drawing and painting modes. Domino mode! Aw yeah! RTS mode as well! There is so much to do with this! You can use a shield and sword, to knock around a dummy. Also you can use Ninja stars. Bow and arrows too! The crowd is clapping at everything now! The dummies flip over if you get them in the head. The precision is amazing. It will be out in Spring 2010. More in store for LittleBigPlanet, more licensed content for it too, from Disney in Fall. A new game like LBPlanet called ModNation Racers. Only possible on PS3. You can make your own characters to use, you can share them and people can rate them. You can make your own car too! Surface changes work great when driving. In game you can use weapons, like in Mario Kart. No way! You can make tracks too! Within 1 minute you can make a figure of 8 circuit and race with AI straight away. There is a landscape editor as well, the track will go up if you make a hill there. You can add trees, houses, weapons, safety cones and most of all sheep! Like on Far Cry you can change water height, also you can change where the sun is! All of this within 5 minutes. It looks like it will sell a lot! There will be more features soon. The Last Guardian, a game for the PS3. It has good graphics at a giant dog/chicken that kills, but is kind to a little child. It’s the third in a series, but I didn’t catch the name. Now a video for Grand Turismo 5, once more the graphics are great. It has NASCAR racing, Rallying, your average racing and more. The people that made God of War 3 are on stage now, this is the final game I believe. They have a demo. Flimsy grunts flying everywhere as a muscular guy, you, is attacking them. Now harder enemies which are big bird things. A big creature is approaching and the ground shakes. This guy you play as has wings as well. I am not going to commentate all of it. Awesome, he has a force push like move also. It looks to be a good game. It is out March 2010. I believe Sony may have the edge over Microsoft. That’s my opinion though. Natal vs Sony Glowstick, I think Glowstick may be better. “We are extremely proud of the line up on our system this year.”
Now it has ended. That felt like forever, but it was great!
